What is a Sure Start Children's Centre?

A Sure Start Children's Centre has been set up by the government to help make more accessible services to the under 5's. Each centre may differ but in general the centre will cover health, education, parenting skills and help with returning to work. This is quite a broad outline and as a Sure Start centre we are quite creative with our groups to meet the government targets and the needs to the community.
Each centre is funded to cover a specific area. It is the choice of the parent as to which centre they attend. However it might be that on some occasions only certain groups are available to people living in that centres specific area due to funding.

Children's Centres offer you and your family:
• Health Services.
• Early education through all the children's activities
• Family Support, including support for parents with children with special needs.

Every Children's Centre will be slightly different as they are all community led and it is the role of the Children's Centre staff to listen and value the opinions of the children and their families to be able to provide services that are most appropriate to the families.
Most of the services are FREE with the exceptions of the Christmas party and Baby Yoga but the future we have to may charge for some services.

What will you find at the centres?
• Staff who are friendly, welcoming and ready to help you by supporting you, signposting you to the right agencies or by answering any questions you might have

• Opportunities for you and your family to meet other families in the area and enjoy activities that encourage you and your child to learn together through play.
• Information about a range of services.

If you are a dad, mum, grandparent, carer or childminder and you haven't already been to any of the services we provide why not drop in and meet us. We all look forward to seeing you.

We hope you are able to find out the information you need on the website, if not let us know either by e-mail (feedback page on the website) or by dropping in to see us.

Centre Opening Times:
Monday to Thursday 09:00am - 05:00pm

Friday 09:00am - 04:00pm

Saturdays 09:30am - 11:30am
